Since this is my blog website, I wanted to share what I was thankful for!
Thanks for all you guys do. Please be sure to really think about what you are thankful for! First and foremost, thank God for everything he has given you. Many times it is really easy for us to pray to God and ask him for things but we also need to remember that we need to give thanks to Him as well! Then, thank the people in your lives who make so many things possible for you. Thank you parents for everything they do for you but also remember to thank people for the little things... holding doors open, picking something up for you, etc. It's the little things in life that make the world a better place! Have a blessed, wonderful, and restful Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving break!
The St. Roch School Advent Service Project will consist of two Giving Trees (one in each building). We are asking each student to remove an ornament from the tree and purchase the item on the ornament to benefit the food/clothing pantry at St. Alphonsus “Rock” Parish. The requested items are: disposable diapers baby wipes boy's boxers girl's underwear children's gloves or mittens men's gloves women's gloves winter hats children's socks adult socks kitchen towels can openers Once the item is purchased, the student should return it to their homeroom teacher (unwrapped) and they will then receive a new ornament to color and decorate and place on the tree or they may decorate the ornament they originally took from the tree. The project will run from December 1st when the students will pick their ornaments through December 15th the last day we will be collecting items. We look forward to two trees decorated with colorful ornaments and loaded with gifts underneath! Thanks, in advance, for your generosity! Just as a reminder, there is no Pasta House on Friday, December 4th even though it is a full day of school.
So the Barnes and Noble book fair is this weekend. The rewards this year are really simple... if you attend the book fair and purchase a book (for yourself or any classroom), you will earn 2 homework passes. If you purchase anything for yourself, you will just need to bring it in to show to your homeroom teacher (me) so I can give you your homework passes.
Homework pass policy: Your homework pass may be used only on a Scholastic News. If you still have them by the end of the year, you can turn each one in for 10 points extra credit in any class that I teach you (religion, math, history). Obviously, since you can only earn 2 homework passes, the maximum amount of points you can add to any grade is 20 points. You may not split up the 10 points among classes but if you have two homework passes, you may use 10 points in one class and 10 points in another. I hope to see you there on Sunday! Thank your parents for coming to visit me at parent-teacher conferences! I had almost 100% 5th grade participation!!! That's amazing. If I didn't get to talk to your parents, I will reach out and see if they can come meet me so beware... dun dun dun. :)
A couple things that you guys need to be aware of that I talked to your parents about is...
Again, thank your parents for coming in to talk to me and hopefully these tips will help you be successful at St. Roch! Tomorrow (11/11) is spirit wear day for having 300 likes on Facebook. Please wear jeans (not leggings unless you have a skirt that you are wearing over your leggings). If you do not have spirit shop clothes, you may wear jeans with a regular school polo or gym shirt and a regular uniform hoodie. It is NOT a dress out day... we are celebrating St. Roch!
Also, tomorrow is veteran's day. Be sure to thank someone who has served our country! Tomorrow is a mission day. Please bring your dollar if you decide to dress out. Remember though, it is a full day of school. Please be sure to bring your lunch (unless you get Pasta House, of course).
You are doing your digital portrait project so you need to bring in pictures for the portrait part of the project. :)
It is the second quarter. I am so excited that you have all made it through the 1st quarter alive and intact! I am looking forward to a GREAT second quarter.
