The unit 2 test was taken today. It was a closed book test. I'm not sure how you guys did yet as I have not graded them yet but they will be graded before I see you on Monday. Monday, we will do test corrections in class. This will be counted on the 1st quarter grades even though it will be done during the second quarter.
We graded pages 68-72 today. It was out of 30 points! You guys did pretty well on it as a whole. I am hoping you do just as well on the test tomorrow!
You are invited to become involved as teachers' helpers in Children's Liturgy during 9:00 AM Mass at St. Roch. Two adult volunteers teach gospel lessons to the children, but we can really use one student volunteer each Sunday to help with the children 2nd grade and younger. It is very simple and fun. You will help welcome the kids, color, help pass out lessons and then escort the children back to church to find their families. The little kids LOVE being with your older kids, so just having them there is so much fun. Please arrive in the Church Hall at 8:45 to help set-up and welcome kids. Students can sign up for as many Sundays as they like. If you are unable to make their Sunday, you need to find a substitute. Here is your chance (aside from serving Mass) to stay connected and involved with the Liturgy of the Word while mentoring the children of St. Roch. Thank you for your interest, any questions, please contact Susanne Knese at 314-496-3865.
You can sign up by using Sign Up Genius. Extra Credit Opportunity! If you help out and want to write a reflection, you can earn bonus points in your religion class. The reflection needs to include what the readings were about, how you helped out with the liturgy, and what you learned from the experience. Your effort in the reflection will earn your points. The students are preparing for their unit 2 test which is on Friday, October 30th (don't worry, they will be able to do test corrections on Monday and I will count it on the 1st quarter grades). Today, we played Stump the Shepard from the COL website. Tomorrow, we will grade the unit 2 review pages out of the book.
I am slightly concerned with the amount of talking from the 6th graders as of late. I am hoping to curb it but it is affecting their conduct grades. Hopefully they can turn it around before the start of the 2nd quarter so they students can get off on a better foot regarding conduct. |
