We did not start a new chapter today because I didn't want it to linger over Thanksgiving break.
So, Friday I forgot I didn't see you so we had to postpone the quiz until today. You guys did awesome on the quiz! That will go in Fast Direct sometime this week.
Today, we finished chapter 11 so the chapter review was assigned. This is due tomorrow. We will then take the chapter 11 quiz. It will be a 30 point plickers quiz with 10 questions that are multiple choice and 5 that are true or false.
So today you guys were split up into 3 groups. One group made an Idolatry poster which highlighted modern day idols. You guys came up with a fabulous list and explained each one nicely to the class. The only things I would be added would have been TV, movies, social media, and music. The other two groups created an interview where one of you was the interviewer and the other 4 people in the group were those who were on the Exodus and they were to answer the question as ones who participated in the Exodus. Both groups took different approaches... one actually naming the interviewees (Moses, Aaron, Joseph, and Marian) and the other group just took different approaches to the answers. They were both well done.
We also read a couple pages in the book. Tomorrow we will finish the chapter and you guys will be assigned the lesson review. This meant we were able to start chapter 11! So, this chapter is about God providing for the Israelite's in the desert... even when it seemed impossible. Equate this to your life... God can provide what you need, even when it seems impossible. It is easy to draw on this story for strength when you feel there is no way that things are going to turn out. Please, remember this story and think about it when you are in despair.
Since we are watching the Moses movie this week, I will not be updating this page as there will be no need to. :)
Today, you guys took the chapter 10 quiz. Monday, we will begin the Moses movie.
Today, we finished chapter 10 which means the chapter review (pg 94) has been assigned. This will be due tomorrow and we will take them quiz then, too.
Next week, we will watch the movie about Moses. Today, we talked about Passover and how it came into existence. Some really good questions were posed today. One of you informed me that there were scientific reasons for the Ten Plagues. I googled it and found this link. I love that someone in class took time to research this at home... apparently interest was piqued! I asked this student if they thought God had a hand in it. Although there may be a scientific reason for the plagues happening, I fully believe that God was watching out for the Israelites in every way and this was HIS doing.
Today, Moses was introduced. I hope this isn't the first time you have heard the name Moses but I think this chapter is going to give you some more insight to the beginnings of Judaism.
