EQ1: The democratic change that Pericles brought to Athens was paying public officials. RQ1: In direct democracy, all citizens participate in government activities but in a representative democracy, selected individuals do the work. EQ2: Athens became more powerful by Pericles taking funds from the Delian League to build a huge Navy. RQ2: The power of Athens expanded when Pericles used the Delian League's money to build a strong naval fleet for Athens; then Athens dominated the other city-states. EQ3: Pericles beautified Athens by rebuilding the Acropolis, adding sculptures and beautiful buildings. How did the Persian War unify Greece? Think about 1) how the city-states got along, 2) why the war started, and 3) how the city-states worked together. As a reminder, there are document based questions on this test. On page 380, there is a primary source document that you can read to prepare you for the document based questions. |
