Today, you worked on 12-7 which is what you guys started last week. This will be due tomorrow so please be sure to finish it!
Today, you guys worked on 12-7 (pg394-395:1-17all) in class in groups. You guys did well working in groups today so I'm going to have you continue working in groups on Wednesday with this lesson.
I am placing below the worksheets that we used for the menu activity in case you did not get a chance to get to all the stations you wanted. Tomorrow, we are moving on!
We finished going over the review worksheet. Tomorrow we are doing a "menu day" which means you are going to have options on what you want to do based on your needs. If you feel like you are an expert, you will take a practice quiz and if you still feel like you're 100%, then you will be an extra helper!
We discussed your homework from last night. We did not finish because I wanted all of you to make sure you understood what we were doing. We will finish it tomorrow and then do some more practice problems. Thursday, we will do a "menu" activity where you will have options for what you want to do based on your personal needs. Finally, some of you are not understanding what we are doing in class but some of these people who don't get it are the same ones who are not paying attention in class (talking, eyes wandering, lacking focus, sleeping); this is very concerning because I want you to be successful but I can only help you so much... you need to help yourself! Below I have posted videos for you to help you with the multiplying mixed numbers concepts. If you need help with math, Khan Academy is a great website! You can search almost anything and there will be an explanation for it! Today we just went over the homework from Thursday. I am including some questions that you guys asked me to review from the homework. There is also the warm-up from Friday below. After putting your 12-6 homework quiz in the books, I have decided that you guys might need a little bit more practice so I have given you a worksheet that I made to review what we went over in class today. Hopefully this will reinforce the concept and help it stay in your brains! Today, we spent a decent amount reviewing multiplying fractions and decimals. You seemed to understand the area portion of the lesson but the multiplying mixed numbers and fractions seemed confusing to you.
As a reminder, the area formulas we used today were for rectangles and squares. Area of a rectangle is length x width and the area of a square is side x side. Be sure you are including units squared on all of you answers!
Finally, your homework is on page 393: 1-20 all We used Geoboards to estimate area today. You were assigned 12-5 pg390:1-16all which is due tomorrow. Please make sure your estimates are reasonable because you will have a homework quiz tomorrow!!!
Since math was the first class of the day, I borrowed that time to give new seats and jobs and then I had you reflect on your break. I look forward to reading your reflections!
