Today, you were assigned the beginnings of a project. You are required to keep track of time spent in different places. If you lost your sheet, there is an extra one attached. Collect and Organize Data and Graphing the Data
For this activity, you will come up with a survey. This survey can be about the colors of doors in your neighborhood, your friends’ favorite food, etc. You will need to come up with a survey and have it approved by Friday, March 11th. You will need to provide the subject of the survey, the options for the survey, and how many people/things you plan to survey. After your project has been approved, you will create a tally and frequency chart as well as a frequency and cumulative frequency chart. You will need to write a paragraph about who/what was surveyed and how you got your results. Then you will need to create a bar graph, circle graph, or pictograph of your data. Your graph needs to be hand-drawn (please, no computer generated graphs). In your graph, you will need to use colors to make your graph appealing. Be sure your graph is scaled properly if necessary. You will then need to write a paragraph to summarize your data. This will be due by Friday, March 18th. It will be the last grade of the 3rd quarter in math and it will not be accepted late so please be sure to put in the necessary time and effort! I had an email question about these problems so I decided to shoot a short video using my document camera to explain it. Today we learned about independent and dependent events. Remember, independent events are events where the first are second events are independent of each other... the first event does not affect the second event. Example: when we put 10 marbles in a bag, we pick one out and put it back to pick a second marble. That means the first marble is still an option when we pick the second time. Dependent events are events where the future events are dependent on the previous events... the first event does affect the second event. Example: when we put 10 marbles in a bag, we pick one out and leave it out when we pick the second marble. That means we only have 9 marbles to choose from on the pick. |
