Most of you did a wonderful job on the metric system quiz today! These grades will hopefully be up before Christmas break! I have also included a video of the first 12 questions (minus the actual first question) for my math coach to review. You guys can also use these 11 questions to review for the test after Christmas break! Yesterday we did a review over lessons 1-4 of chapter 12. Today, you guys checked 12-4. Tomorrow, you will have your plickers quiz over lessons 1-4!
Today you worked in groups of 2 or 3 to work on 12-4 (pg388-389: 1-24 skip 7-10). This will be due on Wednesday. We will then review for the metric system quiz which will be on Thursday. It will be a plickers quiz!
So many of you are saying how much more difficult the metric system is. Don't get me wrong... I get you! It is hard because we don't use it everyday so it is harder to estimate the length of things when it's something you don't regularly use. But... converting millimeters to meters is exponentially easier than converting inches to miles because the metric system is based on 10s. It just takes a little getting used to.
Today, we went over the metric unit for capacity which is liters. You were assigned 387:1-21 all. I learned today that I am concerned with your measuring skills. If I am still noticing a pattern of struggling with measurement, we will spend some time next week on it. Finally, you have a quiz over the first four lesson of chapter 12 on Thursday of next week. This will be the last thing we do in math before the break! It will be a plickers quiz. After going over your homework from last night, I gave short instructions but then had you guys work in your groups to do 12-2 (pg384: 1-21all). This will not be due until Friday because we will have rehearsal during our time together tomorrow! Please don't wait until Thursday night to do it, though, because you have the Christmas program!!!
We started learning about the Metric System today. Some of you realized how much easier the Metric System is due to the fact that you don't have to remember conversions... you only have to shift the decimal! YAY! I am attaching the two info-graphs that we used today to help us! The homework was pg 383:1-34 all and is due tomorrow. We will take a homework quiz and then start on the next lesson!
I know some of you were not happy with your test grades but you were able to do test corrections today so hopefully you were able to improve your score.
Today, I had plans for you guys to use class time to do your chapter 11 test corrections. Unfortunately, we did not get to it due to the project presentations in history so we will do them on Monday or Tuesday depending on the schedule.
Today you guys took the chapter 11 test... see, I told you it was exactly like the review we did on Tuesday. Tomorrow we will do test corrections.
